Question by theholder16: What are cool places to travel to?
I’m a student in New Zealand and I want to travel to an exotic place between December and February. I have no problems with any country.

What are some cool places and is there a website or something with a list of cool travel places and pictures?
Pictures of the destination is very important to me.

Currently I want to see Machu Picchu but I am open to more ideas.

Thanks 😀

Lots of people dream about travelling the globe yet often it is perceived as simply too costly to become a reality. It’s correct that a great number of costs associated with travelling like air-fare and even hotel prices have risen in recent years having said that there are still ways holiday on a limited budget regardless what part of the globe you wish to pay a visit to. I decided to list a few conisderations to look for the next time you journey in foreign lands.

• So everyone knows to analyze overnight accommodation on the web prior to travelling to your chosen city. However in a great many destinations the most impressive special deals are only obtainable when you’re there on the ground. And So I suggest simply booking for one night after which begin searching for a improved offer when you’re settled in.

• Though travelling by ourselves is a lot of fun you will generally get a much better deal on motel lodgings when you travel with a crowd as you will have a great deal more negotiating power. I discovered this to be valid with Dublin hotels last year as my entire group could get a collective rate reduction after we travelled as a group.

• It’s tempting to eat out after you reach your location though whilst it’s wonderful to have a flavour of the nearby cuisine it will normally be very expensive. As a substitute bring your own personal noodle as well as soup packets which may be cooked without any help wherever. Often individuals chuckle at this trick but do not forget plenty of people often throw away alot more on restaurants while on vacation when compared with their airplane ticket!

• There are quite often amazing free of charge activities to choose from but the truth is a lot of holidaymakers don’t spend the time to find out about them. Check ahead of time concerning the most cost-effective activities, my favourites happen to be public galleries and museums which can be absolutely free.

• Public transport is a must if you’re commuting within a strict budget mainly because you will most likely want to stay away from cabs. I think it’s easy to get cheated with taxi cabs in just about any destination, it’s simply not worth the risk. Lots of the big railroad and bus providers supply daily tickets which allow you to travel anywhere in the location for a determined price. It is wonderful in the event you want to explore.

Hopefully these brief recommendations will help if you decide to go exploring in the near future. With some preparation that ideal expedition might be within your grasp.

Question by t c: What is a cheap fun place to travel to for young people?

Question by Stacy Cervenka: Looking for a good cruise travel agent for a South Pacific, Australia, and/or New Zealand cruise?
My fiance and I are looking to take a cruise to either the South Pacific, Australia, or New Zealand for our honeymoon in December, 2011. It is the first cruise either of us have ever taken, so we’re hoping to find a good travel agent who is familiar with cruise lines in this part of the world. We’re young professionals who are just starting out in life, so we probably won’t be taking any luxury lines (Paul Gaughin, Seabourn, etc) unless we can get a really great deal! We’re most likely going to be taking something on Princess, Royal Caribbean, or another more affordable line. Does anyone know of a good travel agent who might be able to help us? Thanks!!

Just look in your yellow pages for a travel agent that specializes in cruises. I use a company called cruise planners so you may look to see if you have one of those in your home town. In 2007, I took a cruise much like you want to take. It started from Sidney, Australia, went to 5 ports in New Zealand, then to many islands in the South Pacific, then to Hawaii, and finally to Los Angeles, California. Is was at that time 29 days long. Now, I believe it is 30 days long. It was with Princess cruises. This particular cruise only happens once a year so you need to book it way in advance. It is called a repositioning cruise, so it may not be listed in all the Princess cruise brochures.

Question by Leah: experienced travel people…flight help???
hey, I just found out I’ve definately going to Malaysia from January to June, and I wanted to know what the best way/time/place to book a flight was? like…what’s a reasonable/cheap price for a flight from canada to asia? Is it best to book right now while it’s still really early? Also, I don’t know an exact date I’ll be coming home…is there a way I can buy a ticket with an open return date? i don’t see that option really on websites. is it worth booking through a travel agent…like will they find better deals or will they just add more of an expense? well…as you can see i have a lot of questions. thanks for the help!
I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba… if that gives you a better idea

I live in Thailand and fly between the US and here often, you should be able to purchase a round-trip fare for between $ 800-$ 1000 US, depending on where you’re flying from in Canada. It may cost quite a bit more if you book the flight around the Christmas-New Year’s travel period. If you can wait a week or so after New Year’s the fare will most likely be much lower, just check different dates to be sure. It may be cheaper just to book a return date in June, and pay the penalty for changing it if you have to rather than buy an open-return ticket, you’ll need to call the airline to find out what the restrictions are on any ticket you buy and what is the best and cheapest way to change the flight if you need to or what the price of an open date ticket is. I would check prices on the internet first to get an idea of the cost, you don’t say what city you’re flying from, but Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and China Airlines among others, all fly to Malaysia and are all good airlines. It’s probably not too early to book, but someone may offer a good special between now and then, you never know. It can’t hurt to call a travel agent as well, you’ve got time to explore the many options you have. Good luck.

Look for cruises. Ask about including air fare both ways. It will be cheaper and you will all enjoy the all-inclusive cruise.Look for a cruise out of Miami, or Port Canaveral. Go to vacationstogo.com and cruisedeals.com and search for the best fares for two inside cabins.

Question by GrayBush: When is the best time to book holiday travel?
I’m asking when I am most likely to find the cheapest flights for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Should I book long before, somewhere in the middle, or wait for a last minute deal?

Best answer:

Answer by ThePerfectStranger
Interesing. I just answered a similar question for someone else.

Holiday or non-holiday is no difference. The best time to buy an airline ticket is when that ticket is at its lowest price. Well this may sound stupid, but hear me out. Airline tickets can fluctuate in price regularly – daily and/or hourly. It is about demand and supply. Popular flight destination and times are normally going to be more expensive; however, each airline offers sales or specials from time to time. The way to take advantage of these offers is to watch the prices regularly and when a good offer is available – buy it. If you wait, the price could change that day or the next day. There is no real secret. Some say wait till the last minute. Well if the flight is a popular flight, chances are you won’t get a ticket at any price. Don’t believe the last minute special, it seldom pays off. The best thing to do is plan in advance. I mean as soon as you know when and where you want to go, start looking. Pick a web site. Most web sites are the same. There is no particular web site that is better than another as far as pricing. They sell for the same airlines. The web site does not set pricing. Be flexible in your dates and departure times. It may be cheaper to fly during the week and at odd hours. Remember supply and demand, the more popular, the more the cost. I like to use Travelocity because it has a flexible flight locater. You just put the month or months you want to travel and it shows you by airline the flight starting with the cheapest. You pick the best price and then the travel dates that the fare is offered. If the price isn’t good enough, try again later. It is important that you start early. Airlines usually post prices 330 days in advance. I recommend that you start at least 4 months before your planned flight and sooner if possible. I have booked really cheap sale fares as much as 8-10 month in advance. I will give you and example. I was planning a trip this Christmas as my wife and I usually do. I started looking in January. In March, I saw a sale to my destination for $ 118 a ticket ($ 157 with taxes and surcharges). This was a Christmas flight so it can work for Holiday seasons. Of course, I bought it. The next day, that very same ticket was $ 480.

The secret is plan ahead and start looking. Book when you find a deal.

Question by kali: Is it true that it’s not good to travel to HK during December 24-27?
Is it true that during those days, Disney Land, Madame Tussauds, Ocean Park and other tourist destinations are so jam packed that you won’t enjoy your visit?

Most probably, Hong Kong is a city with 7 million residents excluding tourists. Christmas is time when most school age children go out and have fun with the family so it should be congested in most places.
