Question by sandra: How far ahead is too far ahead when booking a flight from the US to UK?
I am planning to visit a friend in London around the end of December 2008 beginning of January 2009. The problem is I am not 100% sure I will still want to visit in 6 months. How far ahead should I book my flight and still get a good deal? Can I book it 3 months ahead and still pay the same as booking 6 months ahead?

simple answer is: no-one knows what conditions will be like next month, let alone in 6 months. Will oil go to $ 200/barrel? $ 250? If you are not sure you want to go, I would say hold off, because almost all tickets are non-refundable except the most expensive ones.
Assuming “normal” economic conditions…..you should still be OK three months out. Just make sure to buy your ticket with a credit card, in case the airline you choose goes belly up!
Buon viaje

Question by Mina: Going to Puerto Rico in December, need advice for booking trip…?
This is my first real trip, going to Puerto Rico (San Juan) from TX over the Christmas holidays. It will be 3 of us traveling. I need some help, because I do not really know where to start. Here are my questions:
Is it typically cheaper to book online than through an agency?
What websites are great for booking trips?
Should I book flight and hotel separately or together?
Since it is August, is it too early to book or perfect timing? Would I get better deals booking closer to the date?
Thanks for any and all advice….I need it! 🙂

Listen, im puerto rican and i just spent 2 months in puerto rico. though im only 15 i like to book my trips and i usually use spirit airlines. they have the cheapest airfares. as for a hotel, if you go to expedia you can find good hotels and flights together they are usually cheaper that way.
some places you should visit are the old city of san juan or ” el viejo san juan” which is located at the coast of san juan. right by the old city is possibly the most famous place that is a fort called, ” el morro”. if u like shopping in a neighborhood of san juan known as ” hato rey
norte”. there is the biggest mall in the caribean there called PLAZA LAS AMERICAS. you cn go horseback riding in the central and northeastern part of the island

Question by quickshot12: Do I take the risk of booking a Vegas Hotel at the last minute?
I am heading to Las Vegas in mid December this year and wanting to stay at a nice hotel. I noticed that if I was to book a hotel within the month the prices are extremely cheap for suites etc. I assume that mid December is a low season for Vegas and was thinking of leaving my booking until the month before to see what kind of deal I could get. Is it likely for rooms to book up and become expensive?

Christmas week that is exactly what happens for the next two weeks until after the new year. Then the conventions start and prices will stay high for another two or three weeks From Thanksgiving until the week before Christmas people use their money to buy gifts …. once the gifts are purchases then they can go on their vacation. Christmas day is one of the crowded days of the year here. On the strip last year almost 50 percent of the tourists were non English speaking and most of them were Asian.

Better consider trip insurance as August is not only the “rainy season” it is also hurricane season.
