Question by Mina: Going to Puerto Rico in December, need advice for booking trip…?
This is my first real trip, going to Puerto Rico (San Juan) from TX over the Christmas holidays. It will be 3 of us traveling. I need some help, because I do not really know where to start. Here are my questions:

Is it typically cheaper to book online than through an agency?

What websites are great for booking trips?

Should I book flight and hotel separately or together?

Since it is August, is it too early to book or perfect timing? Would I get better deals booking closer to the date?

Thanks for any and all advice….I need it! 🙂

Listen, im puerto rican and i just spent 2 months in puerto rico. though im only 15 i like to book my trips and i usually use spirit airlines. they have the cheapest airfares. as for a hotel, if you go to expedia you can find good hotels and flights together they are usually cheaper that way.

some places you should visit are the old city of san juan or ” el viejo san juan” which is located at the coast of san juan. right by the old city is possibly the most famous place that is a fort called, ” el morro”. if u like shopping in a neighborhood of san juan known as ” hato rey
norte”. there is the biggest mall in the caribean there called PLAZA LAS AMERICAS. you cn go horseback riding in the central and northeastern part of the island

Lots of people dream about travelling the globe yet often it is perceived as simply too costly to become a reality. It’s correct that a great number of costs associated with travelling like air-fare and even hotel prices have risen in recent years having said that there are still ways holiday on a limited budget regardless what part of the globe you wish to pay a visit to. I decided to list a few conisderations to look for the next time you journey in foreign lands.

• So everyone knows to analyze overnight accommodation on the web prior to travelling to your chosen city. However in a great many destinations the most impressive special deals are only obtainable when you’re there on the ground. And So I suggest simply booking for one night after which begin searching for a improved offer when you’re settled in.

• Though travelling by ourselves is a lot of fun you will generally get a much better deal on motel lodgings when you travel with a crowd as you will have a great deal more negotiating power. I discovered this to be valid with Dublin hotels last year as my entire group could get a collective rate reduction after we travelled as a group.

• It’s tempting to eat out after you reach your location though whilst it’s wonderful to have a flavour of the nearby cuisine it will normally be very expensive. As a substitute bring your own personal noodle as well as soup packets which may be cooked without any help wherever. Often individuals chuckle at this trick but do not forget plenty of people often throw away alot more on restaurants while on vacation when compared with their airplane ticket!

• There are quite often amazing free of charge activities to choose from but the truth is a lot of holidaymakers don’t spend the time to find out about them. Check ahead of time concerning the most cost-effective activities, my favourites happen to be public galleries and museums which can be absolutely free.

• Public transport is a must if you’re commuting within a strict budget mainly because you will most likely want to stay away from cabs. I think it’s easy to get cheated with taxi cabs in just about any destination, it’s simply not worth the risk. Lots of the big railroad and bus providers supply daily tickets which allow you to travel anywhere in the location for a determined price. It is wonderful in the event you want to explore.

Hopefully these brief recommendations will help if you decide to go exploring in the near future. With some preparation that ideal expedition might be within your grasp.

…depending on the exchange rate…probably no…
europe is expensive
you could save on travel costs by renting a car (sometimes they have deals like 1euro a day) but then you’ll still have to pay for gas
and then you’ll have to pay for parking
if you never eat out you can do well because bread, wine and certain sandwich “fillers” can be super cheap
staying places can be cheap too
i dunno it’s a really tight budget…i honestly don’t know….depending on where you want to go and what you want to see
so much of spain is about it’s regional foods
and you’ll probably want to see museums…some have free days…usually wednesdays and weekends…

weather:
COLD COLD COLD rainy wet
at least in Madrid
but I’m from Bermuda so right now i’m freezy my bumpy off and it’s only October!

top destinations:
barcelona
madrid
toledo
segovia
cordoba
granada
sevilla
etc

When you decide to travel on holiday or business, you do not have to use all your savings on accommodation because you can get great services at an affordable price quite easily. One of the most effective ways of getting a cheap hotel room is by taking advantage of specials and promotional offers available. Try to book your accommodation when making a flight reservation. This kind of package allows you to enjoy certain discounts that are not available to those who make these reservations separately.

To get affordable accommodation, you should also consider staying in a bed and breakfast as opposed to booking a room in a big hotel. These establishments offer the same kind of service and the only difference is that the rooms do not have furnished antique furniture or luxurious fabrics. A bed and breakfast can offer you the same kind of comfort you get in your own home. The size of these establishments also ensures you get personalized services.

When booking a room, it is important to find out the entire cost of the stay. Ask about taxes, parking costs, resort fees and energy surcharges to determine the total amount you will pay. Some hotels in New York have low base rates but the extras can make it very expensive therefore, you should inquire about all the fees.

Find a hotel that will allow you to use coupons when making your reservation. Various sites on the internet offer discount coupons. Find a site and print the coupons to get affordable accommodation during your vacation or business travel.

The day of the week you travel on, will also determine how much you will pay. If a hotel hosts business travelers, it will have more empty rooms during the weekend therefore this is the best time to make your reservation. For the hotels frequented by leisure travelers, the best time to book a room is during the week because this is when they tend to have a significant number of rooms available. You should also inquire about any events or conventions they intend to host at the hotel you want to stay. The more rooms available rooms the hotel has, the cheaper the rates will be.
