One of the best parts of realizing the winter is ending in Michigan is the fact that summer is just about to start. Sure residing in Michigan requires that you deal with tough snowy and icy winters, but the summer months in this state make it all worthwhile. Michigan features gorgeous beaches and the Great Lakes. There are many outdoor activities that you can participate in, such as boating, fishing, hiking, camping and more. This makes Michigan summers enjoyable for many individuals.

One beautiful location in Michigan is Gravel Lake. Located in the southwest part of the state, Gravel Lake is a 296 acre freshwater lake. There are several fun activities that take place at this lake for Labor Day, Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. The biggest events are for the celebration of Independence Day. For this holiday, the Gravel Lake Association holds the following events: the Paddle Boat Ragada, the Boat Parade, the 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk and the Kids’ Games.

In addition to holiday fun, lakefront cabins in Michigan are offered for rent on Gravel Lake. Come with family members, friends or both and appreciate the outdoors. Spend the day going swimming in the lake, tanning on the beach or doing some fishing. Go for a walk on the beach and take pleasure in a stunning Michigan summer sunset. Then, at night, have a bonfire under a starlit sky accompanied with great conversations. Another favorite activity while enjoying a bonfire is roasting marshmallows for the American classic snack, a s’more. A s’more is typically a roasted marshmallow smashed in between two graham crackers with a piece of chocolate.

Other activities to participate in while vacationing at Gravel Lake include nature walks where you can look for birds and other animals or plant life and boating activities, such as tubing or water skiing. Also, outdoor games can be played, such as lawn darts or bocce ball and more. The list of things to do while experiencing the beauty of Michigan summer months is limitless.

Michigan sometimes receives a bad rap. The winter months here are very harsh with a lot of snow and ice, but the other seasons are quite enjoyable. This includes summer, the best season. The weather is warm and on a nice day nothing beats spending time at one of the many beaches in this state. Further, there are many other activities to do outdoors in Michigan. For any individual who enjoys the outdoors, Michigan is a great spot to vacation, especially during the summer.
