Question by Mike K: Is it better to book a cruise early or closer to the departure date?
I’m looking to go on a cruise in January but want to get the best deal. Would it make more sense to book early or hold out until late December? I know things like hotels and cruises sometimes lower prices as the departure date nears in order to fill vacant space. Whats my best bet?

Answer by palmyrafan
It depends on the category you want to cruise in. `You may not be able to get a cabin or stateroom in the location you want to because it could already be booked. I would suggest that you keep an eye on the cruise line you are interested in and if your category starts to book real quickly, then you should book a room.

If you haven’t ever been in South-East Asia for holidays you may wonder what are main differences between Burma, Taiwan, Laos, Singapore, Philippines, and other countries of the region. In this article we compare Thailand versus Vietnam holidays shortly.

Thai holidays pros:

  1. smiling people; Thai culture is very soft, people are friendly usually
  2. Thailand girls are among the most beautiful women of the world
  3. beaches and nature; Thai beaches are splendid
  4. Thai cuisine belongs to the best all over the world
  5. it’s quite easy to communicate in English
  6. tourist destinations like Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Phi-Phi, Koh Samui, Chiang-Mai and many other are ready to accommodate millions or tourists every year
  7. prices are significantly lower than in Europe or the USA

Thai holidays contras:

  1. prostitution is omnipresent in some cities
  2. snakes, including king cobras are dangerous
  3. bureaucracy is powerful and tiresome
  4. motorbike driving is extremely dangerous
  5. the weather during rainy season may be very unstable
  6. generally speaking… it’s difficult to find serious reasons against holidays in Thailand

Vietnam holidays pros:

  1. low prices
  2. relatively unknown destination
  3. amazing landscapes like Halong Bay for instance
  4. very good cuisine
  5. relatively safe country

Vietnam holidays contras:

  1. some hostility to western people may be observed in some situations
  2. shadows of Vietnam war
  3. communist government
  4. undeveloped tourist infrastructure
  5. very high air humidity all over the year

In brief: Thailand is still more interesting yet exotic country as a tourist destination comparing to Vietnam. Vietnam is less westernized. Climate and the weather are less humid in Thailand. Vietnam may be perceived as more “mysterious” than Thailand because of relatively less information, but if you visit Thailand than you understand very quickly that Thai mysteries are still alive. Our advice: go to Thailand! If you like nightlife then Phuket or Pattya is the best choice. Otherwise Ko Lanta, Koh Phi-Phi, Koh Samui, Koh Chang or any other of 100 smaller islands can be the best choice.

Thanks to their tranquil sea waters and the various sea creatures, Hawaii, the Maldives islands, and the Caribbean are made to be ideal places to go for a snorkeling vacation. Lucid sea waters are necessary for nighttime snorkeling adventure because many sea creatures can only be spotted during the evening. Night snorkeling utilize a chemical light that you should wear around your waist to warn approaching boats and other water vehicles that you are diving there. An underwater torch is used to visualize the sea creatures. Caribbean snorkeling is already popular among divers. Luckily, worldwide increasing trends in underwater snorkeling brought thousands of tourists into the Caribbean for a nice underwater snorkeling experience.

Caribbean snorkeling derives its name from the most important equipment of the activity, the snorkel. It also includes other equipments such as fins and masks which are similar tools used in scuba diving. Snorkeling is done in calm sea waters just underneath the sea surface so that moving waters do not enter the snorkel which might choke the new adventurers.

Thanks to its lucid and tranquil sea waters, there is a renewed interest in Caribbean snorkeling. This allows eager snorkelers to experience a good underwater activity. You get to see the various sea forms such as fishes, jellyfish, mollusks, kelps, rays, seaweeds, and algae. All of which you can see in close range. The Caribbean offers a magnificent underwater snorkeling experience which draws thousands of tourists into the site.

Snorkeling in the Caribbean is not really an adrenaline pumping activity. Unlike bungee jumping or rafting, it involves far less risk. Although it is so, the experience is still highly captivating. Snorkelers also feel comfortable because they only wear light weight gears while swimming in tranquil and clear waters. Even young swimmers can go snorkeling, provided that they have somebody with them.
