What places are charming enough to lure you out of the Bahamas and Carribbean, popular destinations during the winter time? Located in the gorgeous city of Bristol, running from north to east are the Cotswolds, a grand symbol of England. “Wolds”, which translate into rolling small hills, reveal beautiful villages and towns made of limestone.

One of England’s top university towns, Bath, is a fantastic place to visit especially the Bath Spa which is an original Roman bath-house. Other towns include Cheltenham, the GCHQ, and the Stow-on-the-Wold. Cheltenham is the headquarters of the UK’s major security services. The GCHQ is where the entire world’s electronic communications can be heard. Stow-on-the-Wold offers many elegant restaurants and hotels with village scenery.

The Cotswolds are an English symbol with twisting small roads and flocks of sheep as far as the eye can see. For the best few of these villages and beautiful scenery, it is best to rent a small car to view this amazing place.

Castles are the places to stay when visiting this area. Berkeley Castle is a fantastic place for a night’s stay. It was built to ward off Welsh rebels and built among the Marches Castles.

The Marches Castles were built along the boundary of Wales and England from the Cotswolds to Liverpool. Another great place to visit is Blenheim Castle which is the birthplace of the great Winston Churchill. Broughton Castle, which is located in Banbury, is known as one of the most stunning castles in England.

The Cotswolds is a unique place to visit because of its untouched and unique nature. It can easily be found along the M4 motorway from Heathrow. Bristol is very nearby in case you feel the need to absorb some city life. There you can easily locate fabulous restaurants and hotels to enjoy.

In all of England, there is no other place like the Cotswolds. For the Olde England experience, you must take time to go to Bath, Cheltenham, Malmesbury, and Stow-in-the-Wold. To understand the blend of English and Welsh culture, visiting Bristol or Cardiff is a must.

There is also an airport in Cardiff which is closer to the Cotswolds than Heathrow Airport. If you rent a car from there, it will be easier to discover the Cotswolds.
