Dubrovnik Holidays – Your Hip Travel Guide
Dubrovnik is a coastal resort town in southern Croatia, bordering the Adriatic Sea. If you’re thinking about Dubrovnik Holidays, you’ll find that it has a lot to offer just about anyone’s idea of a good holiday.
Beaches
If you want to have fun in the sun, Dubrovnik has beaches unlike anywhere else in Europe. Banje and Lapad Beach are the two that are most recommended for tourists; both are pebble beaches where you can eat in the restaurants along the beach with locally sourced produce. Remember though, when you’re on pebble beaches you need to pack some sunscreen; pebble beaches, especially white ones will reflect the sun and burn your skin much more easily.
If you’re into extreme sports, go do the Cliff Jumping Experience at the Café Buza on a bungee cord. Kayak rentals are also available and guided tours will take you to Lokrum Island and around the ancient city walls.
Sightseeing is another popular reason people visit Dubrovnik; here you will see monuments from the Gothic period like Roland’s Column, the Bell Tower, and Sponza Palace. Pile Gate is a popular starting point for walking tours, and the midway point is Big Onogrio’s Fountain.
Dining and nightlife permeates the fabric of this resort town; Arka is a nice vegetarian restaurant but it is on the pricey side, Gils Cuisine has an excellent winelist and the Pop Lounge serves nice drinks and good music. When you’re in a Croatian restaurant, ask for Rakija, the local alcohol made from fermented fruit that is quite strong. If it’s not for you, you can always order from the wine lists and clean your pallet with some good food.
Dubrovnik is relatively safe for a European city; follow any rules you would when traveling to Glasgow or London and you’ll do fine.
