If you haven’t ever been in South-East Asia for holidays you may wonder what are main differences between Burma, Taiwan, Laos, Singapore, Philippines, and other countries of the region. In this article we compare Thailand versus Vietnam holidays shortly.

Thai holidays pros:

  1. smiling people; Thai culture is very soft, people are friendly usually
  2. Thailand girls are among the most beautiful women of the world
  3. beaches and nature; Thai beaches are splendid
  4. Thai cuisine belongs to the best all over the world
  5. it’s quite easy to communicate in English
  6. tourist destinations like Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Phi-Phi, Koh Samui, Chiang-Mai and many other are ready to accommodate millions or tourists every year
  7. prices are significantly lower than in Europe or the USA

Thai holidays contras:

  1. prostitution is omnipresent in some cities
  2. snakes, including king cobras are dangerous
  3. bureaucracy is powerful and tiresome
  4. motorbike driving is extremely dangerous
  5. the weather during rainy season may be very unstable
  6. generally speaking… it’s difficult to find serious reasons against holidays in Thailand

Vietnam holidays pros:

  1. low prices
  2. relatively unknown destination
  3. amazing landscapes like Halong Bay for instance
  4. very good cuisine
  5. relatively safe country

Vietnam holidays contras:

  1. some hostility to western people may be observed in some situations
  2. shadows of Vietnam war
  3. communist government
  4. undeveloped tourist infrastructure
  5. very high air humidity all over the year

In brief: Thailand is still more interesting yet exotic country as a tourist destination comparing to Vietnam. Vietnam is less westernized. Climate and the weather are less humid in Thailand. Vietnam may be perceived as more “mysterious” than Thailand because of relatively less information, but if you visit Thailand than you understand very quickly that Thai mysteries are still alive. Our advice: go to Thailand! If you like nightlife then Phuket or Pattya is the best choice. Otherwise Ko Lanta, Koh Phi-Phi, Koh Samui, Koh Chang or any other of 100 smaller islands can be the best choice.
